Jessie Mac Designs began in 1989 at a restaurant in Duck, NC called The Blue Point, where my husband was a chef. The plain wooden pepper mills the servers used caught my eye. I decided to bring the ornate piece of wood to life with bright colors and whimsical designs. Thus began my adventure of painting pepper mills that continued in a life long business. In 2000, the awesome ladies at Urban Cottage in Duck, NC helped me grow my business by selling all my designs in their unique store. It was a fun success and continued for 15 years! My background is in Graphic Design and Art and in 2015 I became an Art teacher. I now teach Graphic Design and Photography at First Flight High School on the Outer Banks of North Carolina. I am still painting pepper mills with the help of my teenage daughter. Yep, it’s just the two of us here painting but we are able to accommodate orders since we don’t really advertise and we don’t sell to retail stores anymore. Art is fun…and sometimes functional too!
